Lace them up on the inside and pull the cover tight, and you've got a nice cohesive unit that keeps you dry and comfortable all day long. In addition, the ability of the boots to be laced up tight can increase the performance of the boots, so you can get to that next level of confidence and precision, all in the same boot. A plastic heel counter keeps the heel of your foot stable and secure, both laterally and vertically. By keeping the heel solid, the boots reach that extra level of performance that will satisfy advancing and improving skiers who are looking for an upper-end boot but who are looking for a good value at the same time. On top of that, there's a hinged cuff that has a strap for your ankle, and this makes it easy and fun to clamp down that ankle for the sketchier spots on the cross-country trails.
